Why we’re building Maishus
Footwear has been sold by the size chart for a century. We think your feet deserve better than an average.
There is a quiet absurdity in how shoes are made. Two feet — yours, specifically, with their own width, arch, and history — are matched to a number on a box that was never measured against them. We have accepted “close enough” as the standard for the one product we stand on all day.
Maishus exists to end that compromise.
Fit is not a luxury
A shoe that fits is not a premium feature. It is the entire point of a shoe. When the fit is wrong, everything downstream suffers: the leather creases where it shouldn’t, the sole wears unevenly, your gait adjusts to protect a pressure point you can’t quite name.
We started Maishus because the tools to fix this finally exist in your pocket.
A last shaped from your own foot is the difference between a shoe you wear and a shoe that disappears.
How it comes together
When we open, the process will be deliberately simple:
- Scan. Our app captures a precise three-dimensional model of both feet — at home, in about a minute.
- Design. You choose the silhouette, the leather, the sole, the finish. Each choice is shown on your shape, not a stock photo.
- Craft. Our cobblers carve a last from your scan and build the shoes around it by hand.
The scan becomes a physical last. The last becomes your shoes. Nothing about the fit is left to a chart.
Where we are
We are not open yet — and we would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. The cobblers, the leathers, and the app are all coming together now, with a view to opening within the next several months.
If you’d like one note when the doors open, join the list. That’s the only email you’ll get from us until there’s something real to try on.
